The Challenge

A good friend of mine has a brother who plays professional baseball. When he got drafted, she started putting together branding ideas for him but hit a snag. That’s when she tapped me in to help bring everything across the finish line. She had originally explored combining an “M” and “K” into a monogram, but I saw an opportunity to push it further—something that truly captured who he is as a player.

The Solution

I took the initials concept and ran with it, but letters alone didn’t feel like enough. That’s when I landed on integrating a home plate shape with an arrow moving over it—a subtle nod to speed and precision, perfect for a pitcher.

Balancing simplicity, boldness, and meaning in a sports logo isn’t always easy, but this one just clicked. Oh, and did I mention? He got drafted by the Yankees. I was floored when I heard that—and even more excited that he loved the logo. Seeing it come to life for a pro athlete was an unforgettable moment.
