The Challenge

Sometimes the most rewarding design projects are for the people you love. A good buddy of mine was getting married and serving pizza at his wedding—naturally, he wanted a custom logo for the pizza boxes and wax paper. He had a clear vision: something retro, cartoony, fun, and illustrative.

I honestly wasn’t sure if this style was in my wheelhouse, but I was up for the challenge. I wanted to create something that felt playful and full of character while still aligning with my design sensibilities.

The Solution

I dug into my illustration roots and landed on a simple but spot-on concept: two cartoon pizzas holding hands, representing the couple. It was lighthearted, charming, and perfectly captured the vibe he wanted.

From there, I expanded the system—creating a custom pattern that took on a life of its own and influenced even more assets. The final design was a fun departure from my usual work but still had my signature touch. Seeing it come to life at the wedding? That was the real cherry on top—or in this case, cheese.
